TEN Protocol: A privacy-first Ethereum L2 solution raises $9 million
TEN Protocol: A New Ethereum Layer 2 Solution Leading the Privacy Revolution
The development of blockchain technology is changing rapidly. With the growing demand for Ethereum scaling and the success of the Cancun upgrade, Layer 2 (L2) networks have become one of the hottest topics this year. Against this backdrop, a group of core members from top blockchain alliances has launched an innovative L2 solution - TEN Protocol.
TEN Protocol is an Ethereum Layer 2 Rollup protocol focused on complete data encryption, allowing developers the flexibility to choose which parts of the smart contract need to remain private or public. Recently, TEN's developer Obscuro Labs announced the completion of a $9 million funding round, with investments from several well-known institutions. TEN is currently in the testnet phase and is expected to launch its mainnet in October, with its native token planned for release in June.
Technological Innovation: Confidential Rollup
The core technological highlight of TEN is its innovative proposal of the Confidential Rollup concept. This new type of Rollup draws on the advantages of both Optimistic Rollup and ZK Rollup, by combining confidential computing technology and economic incentive mechanisms. It retains the performance and simple programming model of Optimistic Rollup while achieving data confidentiality, shortening withdrawal periods, and effectively addressing the MEV (Maximum Extractable Value) issue.
Confidential Rollup primarily relies on two key technologies: Secure Enclaves and the POBI (Proof of Block Inclusion) protocol. Secure Enclaves provide a secure execution environment for sensitive data, while the POBI protocol ensures the fair selection of Rollup winners and protects network security in extreme situations.
Compared to traditional L2 solutions, TEN has significant advantages in multiple aspects:
Shorten withdrawal time: No need to rely on submitting fraudulent proof, just ensure that the TEN nodes are offline for a short period and that Enclave security is intact to complete the withdrawal.
Decentralized Design: Achieve complete decentralization through Secure Enclaves and POBI, avoiding the potential risks brought by centralized sequencers or proof generators.
Complete EVM Support: Use the full Ethereum Virtual Machine provided by GETH, without requiring developers to change the way they build Ethereum DAPPs.
Comprehensive Encryption: Encrypting the entire L2 provides underlying technical support for privacy-sensitive application scenarios while effectively preventing MEV attacks.
Diversified Application Scenarios
The technical characteristics of TEN have brought significant experience improvements to users in the crypto world and opened up various new application possibilities:
Ordinary retail investors: Effectively prevent MEV attacks and protect user interests.
Enterprise users: Meet the strong demand for encryption of transaction details.
Applications: Enable smart contracts to keep secrets like humans, bringing surprises to users.
In the DeFi space, TEN allows developers to choose whether to make content public or confidential at a granular level, such as only disclosing information that affects the liquidation level in lending protocols. This privacy protection mechanism also provides the possibility of on-chain implementation for dark pools and over-the-counter trading in traditional finance.
The gaming sector will also benefit from the privacy features of TEN. Games that rely on the confidentiality of player behavior and location, such as "Civilization," "StarCraft," and other "fog of war" type games, become feasible on TEN. This provides game developers with a new business model to shift from "play-to-earn" to "pay-to-play."
In addition, TEN can improve the privacy of the naming system. Unlike ENS, aliases created on TEN cannot be directly linked to the underlying address, thus maintaining anonymity even at the L1 level.
Similar privacy-enabled application scenarios also include auctions, gambling, and commercial agreements, and TEN provides strong technical support for these areas.
Experienced Team
Most of the core members of the TEN team come from well-known blockchain alliances, and they have extensive experience in fintech and privacy protection. Team members include former chief engineers, solution architects, product leaders, and other senior talents, all of whom have a solid background in blockchain, cryptocurrency, and traditional finance.
The TEN token will be used to incentivize node operations, pay operational costs, participate in protocol governance, and more. With the continuous operation of the testnet and the upcoming launch of the mainnet, TEN is moving towards becoming a leading Layer 2 solution in the Web3 space, bringing more privacy protection and scalability to the Ethereum ecosystem.
